Movie Matinee: Calendar Girls

Join us for popcorn and this 2003 audio-described movie that won the Best Comedy Film in England. It’s the story of a handful of women who take over the local chapter of the social organization, the Women’s Institute to sponsor an unauthorized fundraiser to raise money in memory of one member’s husband. They create a calendar featuring the middle-aged women in the nude. They went on to be unexpected international celebrities. This movie was inspired by a true story. It is funny, sweet and you won’t be offended by the nudity, we promise. Featuring some of Britain’s famous actors, including Helen Mirren, Julie Walters, Penelope Wilton, and Celia Imrie.
