We hope everyone is enjoying the return of Spring (or Winter, as the case may be) to Minnesota.

You’ll be interested to know that our Volunteer Program continues to serve our community, primarily with reading and/or shopping support. Small things matter a great deal, and your time as a volunteer can make a huge difference in the life of someone. Helping someone read their mail, go over some documentation, or go grocery shopping is not just a service you can help with, it is a commitment to ensuring that our community retains their independence.

Here at VLR the number of students we are serving continues to go up. March saw approximately 40 students served during the month, one of our highest in recent memory. Our students might be with us for a day or 12 months, but they always leave with the skills and confidence to meet the day’s challenges.

Our teaching kitchen is always a great place to be when you smell food (all day long!) prepared by our students.

Congratulations to Thea Kramer, VLR Rehabilitation Manager, for her appointment to the Minnesota State Rehabilitation Council for the Blind as an industry representative. Good going Thea!
