Volunteer Opportunities

You can help a person who is blind or visually impaired maintain their independence and stay active. Your schedule is flexible, mileage reimbursement is available, and we’ll make sure you have plenty of training and ongoing support. Ask us about opportunities for families and groups!

Shopping Volunteer

Close your eyes. Imagine how you would shop for groceries or run errands if you lost your vision. As a Volunteer Shopper, you will provide a client transportation to grocery or other stores and help select items. Time commitment: approximately 2-4 hours per month.

Shopping help is especially needed in Circle Pines, Hastings, Maplewood, Richfield, Saint Paul, Stillwater, and White Bear Lake.

Reading Volunteer

Share your time and share your eyes to help a person with vision loss! You may read mail, newspapers, or other household paperwork, and you may help with projects such as writing thank-you notes. Time commitment: usually 1-2 hours every other week.

Reading help is especially needed in Hastings, Isanti, Richfield, Shoreview, Saint Paul, and Stillwater.

Instructor Volunteer

Yoga? Art history? Nutrition? Gardening? Weaving? Bubble gum blowing? What do you love to do? Share your passion, hobby, or interest with people who are blind or visually impaired! You provide the skills and enthusiasm, and we will help you to present a class that is accessible for our clients. Previous classes have included gardening, jewelry making, Italian cooking and much, much more. Time commitment: approximately 2-4 hours, one-time or more frequently.

Opportunities available in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Excursions Volunteer

Do you enjoy getting out to theater, exploring museums, and trying restaurants? Assist staff with recreational, social, and cultural activities for blind and visually impaired participants.  This is a way to give back while enjoying cultural events for free! Time commitment: approximately 2-4 hours, one-time or more frequently.

Opportunities available throughout the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area.
