DESCRIPTION:Metro Transit is currently piloting multiple projects which aim to improve the information that customers who are blind and of low vision receive. For one of these projects\, Metro Transit is working on incorporating accessible maps and wayfinding at their high-volume transfer points. Representatives from Metro Transit will be joining us\, and they would like feedback from customers who may benefit from these efforts; this may include their opinions about tactile signage\, digital information\, and more. This session is to gather feedback about how VLR clients receive Metro Transit information (for example\, scheduling and wayfinding between transit stops) and it will not encompass Metro Mobility services or Metro Transit facilities.

DESCRIPTION:Linda Brant-Malm\, a VLR client and the founder of tactileARTtalks\, will join us to present one of her new tactile art pieces. Her mission is to include people with vision loss in experiencing art. She will be bringing her piece titled “Spiral Paths: A Story of Healing.” \nAt this workshop\, we will learn throughout history that spirals have been found in art from cultures around the world\, and often are considered a path of healing. We will discuss our own paths of healing as we touch and feel many clay shapes\, with a spiral incorporated. We will learn from each other\, as we share our thoughts and experiences of how many kinds of things can be found to have meaning and help us along on our own paths of healing. \nThis is a good exercise in mindfulness and the potential of our storytelling.

DESCRIPTION:This local purveyor of coffee\, both a roaster and a coffee bar\, is coming to our St. Paul office. They will talk about how they choose their coffee and the process of growing to roasting of coffee beans. We’ll get to sample some of their current choices. Bootstrap Coffee is new to the West side of St. Paul\, just a few blocks from VLR. Bootstrap began in 2014 as a wholesale coffee roaster. In early summer of 2019\, Micah moved his business to our side of town. Space is limited. Please schedule your rides from 11:30 to 11:45.Please note: This is a prepay event.
