New Mobile Device Courses! We are excited to be offering the following courses starting in February:

  1. Mobile Devices – Which One? : iPad, Android, iPhone, Oh My! There is a large variety of “accessible” mobile devices available to people who are blind or have low vision. Are you considering getting a mobile device, but you don’t  know which one? The presentation style class will show you the different functions of the iPod Touch, the iPad, the iPhone, and the Nexus 7 (Android). It will include exposure to accessibility features or Voice Over, Talk Back,  Zoom Text, Inverted colors, and a variety of applications (apps) that will work with accessibility features.  All materials will be supplied. Call to register for course. Date: Monday, Feb.3rd  1:30 PM(St. Paul) or Thursday 2/20 4:00 PM(Minneapolis), Enrollment limit 10 People. Cost: Free.

  1. Introduction to the iPad and iPod Touch. Did you get an iPad or Apple mobile device and are not sure how to use it? Or you are familiar with some things but forgot much of the rest? We’ll be learning about the device indicators and controls, the gestures used to interact with the tablet, how you can arrange your screens, how to search the device. We’ll also review the apps that come with the device including the apps store and resources to help yourself. Bring your iPad or iPod Touch, if you are using voiceover, attending on 2/5 please bring your own set of head phones. Remember your Apple ID and Password. Call to register for the course. Date:Wed. 2/5 1:00 PM Voiceover users only,( Minneapolis),  Date: Sat. 2/8, 10:00 AM Zoom users only (St. Paul),Enrollment limit 4 people. Cost: $10.00 per person.

  1. Email, Calendar, timer, and Alarm –  Now that  you have your device, you would like to communicate with your friends and family. In this class we will cover the how to’s: open, reply, compose, organize, save photos, delete, create folders, all in email. You will learn to set the calendar, timer and alarm.  Date: Wed., 2/19, 5:30 PM  (Minneapolis) Enrollment limit 4 people. Cost $10.00

  1. Contacts and Siri commands – Your device talks to you and you talk to it. Siri will not add or create contacts. Learn how to create your own contacts. Understand all the things that Siri can do for you and how to accomplish many tasks with it’s help. (Must have and bring iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 3rd generation or newer, or  iPod Touch 6th generation or newer. Also, bring headphones so you can hear Siri.) Date: Wed.,2/12, 4:30 PM, (Minneapolis)  Enrollment limit 4 people. Cost $10.00 per person.
