Honors and celebration from the City of Minneapolis

Thanks to the nomination of a participant, Lynda D’Heilly, Vision Loss Resources was recognized by the City of Minneapolis on July 23, 2015, as part of a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). You can read her nomination here.

D’Heilly, a student in our Adjustment to Blindness Training Program, wrote in her nomination about the importance of regaining her sense of self and maintaining her independence, and how she found the tools and support of her peers to face those challenges. She illustrated the importance of allowing visually impaired individuals to see their possibilities and not their limitations and to not be defined by their vision loss.

When we celebrate all Americans, we all win. Thanks to the City of Minneapolis for recognizing the importance of the ADA. And thank you, Minneapolis Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities, for honoring Vision Loss Resources, and speaking to our 101 years of supporting individuals with visual impairments, and their caregivers, in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the metro area.
