Vision Loss Resources

For more than 100 years Vision Loss Resources (VLR) has provided services for those who are visually impaired, blind or deafblind.  Clients, caregivers, donors, business partners, volunteers and dedicated staff provide robust support for VLR programming through Community Services, Rehabilitation Services and DeafBlind Services of Minnesota. Contract Production Services is a social enterprise owned by VLR which contributes support to the mission to provide services, skills and support for people with vision loss.

 

Position Summary

This position plans, prepares, and facilitates community center programs and events.  This staff person will:

  • Plan and execute Community Center activities and outings; manage inventory and materials
  • Personally prepare for and facilitate 8 – 10 events per month
  • Ensure each client is welcomed to class and picked up after classes
  • Coordinate events taught by volunteers and staff
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new programs and events
  • Work with Volunteer Manager to recruit volunteers needed
  • Provide administrative support as requested

 

Position Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or relevant combination of education and experience
  • Prior success coordinating or delivering programming desirable
  • Experience working with disabilities desirable
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work a fluctuating schedule
  • Access to reliable transportation to both St. Paul and Minneapolis locations, and to outings
  • Ability to work 3-4 evenings per month
