Assistive Technology (AT) Instructor

Do you have a passion for technology, and its ability to enhance the abilities of blind and low vision individuals?  If so, consider an Assistive Technology Instructor position with Vision Loss Resources.  Technology instructors:

  • Plan, prepare and teach technology courses, including screen readers, PC operation, Mac and iOS products, word processing, database and internet navigation
  • Deliver instruction appropriate to individual student learning styles and needs
  • Provide technical assistance related to computers and assistive technology by phone, email, and in person
  • Perform client technology referrals, evaluating client needs and abilities relative to vision loss and use with technology
  • Serve as an advocate for the technology needs of blind and low vision people

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Professional background in education, technology, occupational therapy or other relevant field
  • Current and broad knowledge of assistive technology products and solutions
  • Technical expertise in PC, Mac and mobile technology
  • A skilled and patient teacher, both in small group and 1:1
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • A commitment to ongoing learning of new technologies
  • Prior experience working with blind or low vision individuals desirable
